As a candidate, what are your top three policy issues?

1-A better way of enforcing our speed throughout the city especially in our school zones. 2- Zonings, I would like for Council to review where daycare business are to be located. We have to many day cares located in commercial zones next to (Adult entertainment). 3- I would like to see buffers between existing residential vs. commercial & professional zoning. 4- City & County wide transportation.

What specific NEW initiative would you suggest for economic growth in Fayetteville? How would it be implemented? New initiative for economic growth; I would like for the city to offer more incentives to help lure new businesses to our city. Such as waiving, permits, electric & water connection, etc… I think the city should do all we can to become more business and new business-friendly.

Can Fayetteville and Cumberland County successfully consolidate/merge their governments? What would be the benefits/problems of consolidating the two into one? I have no problems in having more open dialogue as we are now on this concept. I also think this is a question we should poll to the Department of Justice. If the City and County are sincere in consolidating we should be further along with consolidating & collaborating on our City-County Transit plan. I think working together right now on such items can and will give us a benchmark if the City & County governments truly can consolidate.

What do you believe to be the city council’s greatest accomplishments and disappointments in the last two years? I think some of the cities accomplishments are: renovating of our downtown Fayetteville, hiring of our Federal Lobbyist, no increase in taxes in 10 years, and the construction of new Parks & Recreation Center that collaborated with our County School Systems.

Disappointments: Phase V annexation.

How should the city best leverage the impact of the BRAC process? BRAC levering; Fayetteville and the County I think are working very aggressively on the BRAC issues. City Council, the County, and surrounding business groups have been meeting with our Military and all relating parties for over the pass 4 years. I also think we could do better by having more community meetings so that the entire city can stay informed. We are getting prepared!

How the city council and the business community can work more effectively to build a better workforce? The City and the Business community can work better together.  We should have more collective meetings together, one on one-type meetings with clear direction and desires where and how our economy should grow. Our communities have a lot of professionals that can bring a lot of experiences to the table; they should be invited to.

What would you do to work cooperatively with the other members of the city council? In order to work better with my City Council members I think we all should be more open minded and listen more to each other. Leave the politics at home!
